What is Short Term Accommodation (STA)?

Short Term Accommodation (STA) provides funding for short-term stays away from home, covering up to 14 days/13 nights. Whether for respite care, a change of environment, or trying new activities, STA allows flexibility. Tailored STA covers everything—transport, meals, support worker pay—while letting you choose whether to bring a regular or informal (unpaid) support person.

How does Tailored STA Work?
Tailored STA starts by getting to know you and your support needs. We create a custom itinerary based on your preferences and verify your NDIS funding. After refining the details, we finalize the trip. You can also choose from pre-planned packages if you'd prefer a hands-off approach. Once everything’s set, all you have to do is relax and enjoy.

How does STA work with my NDIS plan?
Tailored STA is available for self-managed or plan-managed participants with adequate Core funding. STA is flexible within Core budgets as long as it aligns with your NDIS goals. We can review your plan or you can consult your Support Coordinator to confirm eligibility.

Do I need to pay anything upfront?
No upfront payments are required. We confirm your funding approval before making bookings, and your plan manager/self-manager will handle payments once the trip is complete.

How do I book my accommodation?
We handle all accommodation bookings, but you maintain full choice and control to ensure everything aligns with your preferences.

I don’t want to stay in the same room as my support worker. Can I get two rooms?
Yes, NDIA guidelines allow separate rooms for your support worker, ensuring comfort and privacy.

 

How far in advance can I book my accommodation?
We recommend booking up to 3 months in advance for flexibility, but we are happy to assist with last-minute or long-term planning depending on your needs.

Is there a minimum number of days I need to book?
A minimum of 2 days/1 night is required for our respite services.

 

How many days of accommodation can I book at one time?
You can book up to 14 days/13 nights in a row. For exceptional circumstances, reach out to discuss extended stays.

 

My NDIS funding is NDIA-managed. Can I use your service?
Unfortunately, our services are not available for NDIA-managed participants at this time.

 

Do I have to bring a support worker?
Yes, a support worker or informal (unpaid) support is required, per NDIA guidelines. Adults need a minimum of 4 hours of support daily, while children require 24/7 care.

What are Tailored STA’s fees?
Our fee is $250.00 per day (24 hours), which is included in your STA invoice at no extra cost to you.

The choice is yours! Whether you dream of a beach escape or an urban adventure, we tailor destinations across Australia to meet your NDIS goals.

Is my trip customised to my needs?
Absolutely. We personalize every aspect of your trip—from accommodations to activities—to suit your preferences, including any dietary restrictions or personal care needs.

Can I customise every aspect of my trip?
Yes, you have full control over your trip. We create a bespoke travel plan based on your preferences.

 

What should I do if I have dietary restrictions?
Simply inform us of your dietary needs during booking, and we’ll ensure all meals meet your requirements, from gluten-free to vegan or allergen-free.

What happens if I need to cancel my trip?
We understand that plans change. Our cancellation policy is flexible, but we’ll clearly communicate the “no turning back” date when finalizing your package.

Are there activities for children in your travel packages?
Yes! Many of our destinations are family-friendly, offering a range of activities for children. Let us know their ages, and we’ll recommend the perfect experiences.

 

How do I know which package is right for me?
Our travel experts will talk through your interests and needs, helping you choose the perfect package that aligns with your goals.

 

Can I extend my stay while on the trip?
Absolutely. If you’d like to extend your stay, just let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request, subject to availability.

 

Do you accommodate groups for special occasions?
Yes, we cater to group bookings for celebrations and events like ComiCon, Mardi-Gras making sure every need is taken care of.

 

What happens if something goes wrong on the trip?
Our 24/7 phone support ensures you’re never alone. Whether it’s getting locked out of a room or needing help with local arrangements, we’ll work to resolve any issues quickly.
